PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AMSOIL 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube is a
multi-functional product designed to surpass the
requirements of equipment and automotive
applications calling for an SAE 80W-90 viscosity
grade. Formulated with wax-free synthetic base
oils and high quality additives, AMSOIL 80W-90
Synthetic Gear Lube resists thermal breakdown. Its
naturally high viscosity index and shear stable
construction improves film strength and viscosity
retention. AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube
prevents wear, resists heat, and protects gears.
It lasts longer in service than conventional gear
oils and increases equipment life.
AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear
Lube provides:
- High Load Gear and Bearing
Protection
- Longer Oil and Equipment
Life
- Lower Maintenance
Costs
- Compatibility With
Conventional and Synthetic Gear Lubes
- Multi-functional for
Multiple Applications
APPLICATIONS AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube
is recommended for use under various combinations
of high-speed, shock loads, low speeds and high
torque conditions. It is recommended for use in
all light and heavy-duty, automotive, commercial
or industrial applications requiring SAE 80W-90 EP
gear lube. AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube
replaces all conventional 80W-90 gear oils and
exceeds the lubrication and performance
requirements of front and rear differentials,
transfer cases, transaxles, manual transmissions,
oil lubricated wheel bearings, and steering gear
boxes that require any of the following
specifications:
- API GL-5 & MT-1
- MIL-PRF-2105E
- Dana SHAES 234 (Formerly Eaton
PS-037) for 250,000 miles
- MACK GO-J
- Arvin/Meritor 0-76D plus hypoid
gear oil specifications from all domestic and
foreign manufacturers such as GM, Ford and
Daimler Chrysler.
- Can also be used rear axles
where API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended.

For product service
life in non-differential applications, consult
owner’s manual or the OEM for either normal or
severe synthetic oil service intervals. Where
service intervals are unavailable, drain at twice
the interval for conventional oil.
Note: AMSOIL does not
support extended drain intervals where water
contamination occurs. Check and service the gear
oil frequently when water contamination is
possible.
Gear oils should be
changed more frequently when operating vehicles or
equipment in dusty or dirty conditions unless the
gear system is properly sealed and equipped with
membrane type breathers.
AMSOIL SYNTHETIC
80W-90 GEAR LUBE is compatible with synthetic
and conventional gear oils, however mixing oils
reduces the benefits and nullifies the extended
service life recommendations.
AMSOIL 80W-90
SYNTHETIC GEAR LUBE is compatible with most
limited slip differentials. If limited slip
differential chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock™
friction modifier additive.

AMSOIL has optimized
gear lube performance for specific operating
conditions. However, AMSOIL gear lubes are
multi-functional and may be used in many
different applications. This chart conveys the
best AMSOIL recommendation based on product
design and operating environment.
First row product
recommendations offer superior performance in
the respective applications. Second row product
recommendations offer excellent performance in
the respective applications. The third row is
exclusive to SAE 80W-90 viscosity.
AMSOIL Severe Gear®
75W-90 (SVG), 75W-110 (SVT) and 75W-140 (SVO)
synthetic gear lubes have a performance emphasis
on the extreme pressure and high heat of today’s
vehicle differentials.
AMSOIL Long Life
75W-90 (FGR) and 80W-140 (FGO) synthetic gear
lubes have a performance emphasis on 500,000
mile extended drain intervals associated with
larger sumps and lower operating temperatures of
over-the-road truck differentials.
AMSOIL 75W-90
synthetic gear lubes will outperform
conventional 80W-90 gear oils in all
applications and may be used as a
replacement.AMSOIL offers 80W-90 (AGL) synthetic
gear lube for those customers requiring this
specific viscosity grade.

Peter Virgona of Merrick, NY is a self-proclaimed oil enthusiast.
“I do a great deal of reading and research, always looking for the best oil,”
Virgona said. “The more I read the more I realized AMSOIL was the best ‘true’
synthetic I could buy. After using Mobil 1 since 1986, I made the switch to
AMSOIL.”
Virgona drives a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with nearly 98,000 miles on the engine.
He switched from Mobil 1 to AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil.
“The difference was immediate and signifi - cant,” Virgona said. “The idle
became much smoother. There are times I can’t tell if the car is running. It
also became much more responsive to the gas pedal, so much more responsive my
wife asked me what I did to the car.”
He has owned the car for almost nine years. “Not surprisingly, the gas mileage
improved signifi cantly,” he said. “This car always averaged 15 mpg going back
and forth from work. It now averages 16.5 mpg. That’s a 10 percent increase.
I truly didn’t expect such a big change.”
He waited to report his fi ndings until after he had driven the car at least
5,000 miles “to confi rm that the numbers are average and not just a fl uke.”
Virgona also installed AMSOIL 5W-30 in his sister-in-law’s 1996 Dodge Caravan
with a 3.0 litre V6 engine. She had always used conventional motor oil with
regular oil changes every 3,000 miles, Virgona said.
“Nonetheless, she had a signifi cant amount of sludge that was obvious under
the oil cap,” he said. “She also experienced a very loud lifter noise that would
come and go with the engine either hot or cold. Presumably the sludge was affecting
the oil circulation to the lifters.”
Oil consumption in the van was increasing, using about one quart every 1,500
to 2,000 miles.
“I switched her to AMSOIL and put in a new fi lter,” Virgona said. “Within
1,000 miles the lifter noise was all but gone. By 3,000 miles, virtually all
the sludge was gone. I drained and refi lled the oil a second time with AMSOIL
5W-30. The oil consumption is now down to one quart every 3,000 miles, with
no more lifter noise. And, except for a little yellow varnish, all the sludge
is gone.
“I am very happy with AMSOIL and plan to use it from now on. I recommend it
to anyone who wants a great synthetic oil.”
Virgona just had a case shipped to his father-in-law in Florida because he
believes in AMSOIL products, he said, and wants others to experience their benefi
ts. In fact, he’s considering becoming a Dealer. The more I read the more I
realized AMSOIL was the best ‘true’ synthetic I could buy.

Better Fuel Mileage
Better Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is becoming more important with each passing year. Gas and diesel prices keep rising, putting a major strain on businesses that rely on vehicles and heavy equipment in their daily operations. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants improve fuel economy by allowing moving parts to move more freely, using less energy and creating less friction than when conventional lubricants are used.
The use of AMSOIL synthetic motor oil, gear lubes and transmission fluids can have a profound impact on fuel economy. Industry tests demonstrate an average conservative decrease in fuel consumption by two to five percent by switching to synthetic lubricants. Many AMSOIL customers report even larger gains in fuel economy.

Reduce Americas dependence on foreign oil!
AMSOIL synthetic motor oils are designed for extended drain intervals
and reduce the amount of oil used by as much as 80%. Fewer oil changes
means less oil used. Better fuel economy means less oil being imported. |
